Doctor David Ness is a local chiropractor from New Paltz who specializes in sports injury and physical fitness. He recommends a regular yoga practice to many of his patients with injuries, chronic pain, and weakness or flexibility issues. David believes greatly that anyone who can develop a regular yoga practice will become better connected to their body and mind as a result. This over time will relieve stress, tension, and pain, while improving range of motion, balance and strength throughout the body or in injured areas.

David draws from his own Ashtanga yoga practice, and Vinyasa styles in his classes, as well as his knowledge of the spine and sports injuries to create classes that strengthen the spine and joints restore the body's core strength, while relieving tension and stress.

Leigha Butler: The first time Leigha took a yoga class, she felt somehow like she had become more herself. That was fifteen years ago. These days, she’s
deeply awed by the spirited movement of Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga. Her
classes are rhythmic, flowing and promise to challenge each student’s
physical limits.

Leigha encourages her students to modify, adjust or deepen postures in
order to make the practice suit their bodies unique needs.

Her teaching certification was earned under Michael Stein, whose
teacher training emphasizes anatomical alignment, hands-on adjustments
and thoughtful sequencing.

Leigha writes about yoga, happiness and sustainability at Elephant
Journal and elsewhere. Leigha has recently opened her own Yoga studio in
Kingston NY, The Yoga House, with fellow instructor Jacqui Potente.
